L'Opera

OK, I know I should have been back here before now, and I really meant to be, but you know how it is; the road to Hell, and all that. I could blame my absence on a faulty French internet connection, but you probably wouldn't buy it.

Since we have the luxury of a whole week here, we decided to visit one major attraction a day. We agreed that's enough culture at one time and besides, it leaves plenty of time for sitting in cafes, watching the world push past; sometimes that's even more fun.

This is L'Opera; it's a fabulous building- sorry about the tour bus, but they're everywhere. I quite like the bikers, though.

If you've seen 'Phantom of the Opera', then you may recognise this staircase as being where the phantom appears.

This is the view from the balcony- and there's another tour bus (or three)- see, I said you can't get away from them.

Oh, my. What a place, so absolutely gorgeous if you like completely OTT, which I do. And you, Mistress Maggie, standing on the stairs looking rather smart and slim in your jeans and red sweater - good on you!

love, Caroline
