It was a lovely warm afternoon on Sunday, so a walk by a slow, peaceful river, in this case the Stour, seemed to be the thing to do.
That's Christchurch Priory in the distance on the right hand side of the photo ( right).
The Priory was built in the 11th century, and is the longest church in England (just thought I'd lob that bit of totally useless information at you).
Wick Ferry landing stage- that small white boat is the ferry. It carries people across the river Stour, from Wick Village (this side) to Christchurch, across the water.
The ferry rights were granted before the Priory was built, which means there may have been a ferry here for 1000 years. I don't think that's the original boat though.
And here come the ducks! Bet they're looking for lunch.Look at this guy (below)! The perfect way to spend a warm Sunday afternoon- shoes off, grass tickling the toes, gently dozing off. Doesn't get much better than that, does it.
