Vicenza 2012

One boiling hot day (41c) we decided to visit Vicenza. It's about half an hour by train (or an hour if you get the cheap tickets on the slow train) (which is what we did- what's the hurry). It's a beautiful old town and every day there's a market in the main square.

Of course I was unable to resist this gorgeous colourful display. One of those dressed is now mine.

There's John- he looks a bit anxious, doesn't he?  Probably wondering just how many dresses I'll buy. Sigh. Girlfriends, never go shopping for dresses with a man. They just don't understand.

This statue is of Vicenza's best known citizen- Palladio, the architect who designed those beautiful, graceful Palladian columns.

In a city so soaked in history, it was a delight to see this playful piece of work.
