After a mostly grey and damp summer in 2012, this winter has seemed endless. Almost every day, the skies are cloudy and dull, it's cold, and the evil Siberian wind is so fierce, it's been nicknamed 'The Beast from the East.'
Like most people here, I'm fed up with it all. And I find myself constantly searching for things to cheer myself up. Usually that means chocolate.
But not always. When I saw this box, I knew I had to have it. It's so colourful and cheerful.
I wasn't sure what I would use it for- I might turn it into a memory box that I can dip into it whenever I need cheering up. You know, things you accumulate over the years and don't want to throw away because of the memories they bring back - ticket stubs and photos, brochures from exhibitions and old airline tickets.
Or I could stash my beloved travel magazines.
Perhaps bits of broken jewellery?
.
But so far, all I've done is to admire the box itself. Just looking at it makes me feel- happier.
And I love the words on the side.
'Turn your face to the sun and always believe that you will receive all that you need'.
Words to live by; now if only I could find that darn sun.
